The recall of Toyota-vehicles in the US relates to the upgrade of the accelerator pedal mechanism which may, under very rare circumstances, be harder to depress, slow to return to the idle position or remain open in a partially depressed position.
It was announced on 1 February 2010 that the recall would officially be expanded to other geographies, including South Africa.
Given this development some vehicles sold by Toyota South Africa Motors may possibly be involved in the expanded recall.
Toyota South Africa Motors is currently investigating which vehicles may be involved in the recall and will make an announcement in due course.
