The July 2008 edition of Leisure Wheels went on sale on 16 June, with the cover story news that Suzuki is back with exciting new cars, and a couple of its famous off-roaders like the Jimny and Grand Vitara to follow shortly.
One adventurous contributor this month decided to get onto his bicycle (literally) and pedal from the Drakensberg to the sea, starting the ride at midnight and finishing some 12 hours later.
A bunch of motorbikers had shades of the Dakar Raid on a trip from Parys by the Vaal to De Aar, while members of South Africa RSG club flew to Egypt to camp in the Sahara Desert.
Destinations include the Ivory Route in Venda, Land of Legends, and the road test focus falls on the VW Tiguan 2.0 TDi Track & Field and BMW's X3 2.0d Exclusive.
There's a feast of new models, including the Jeep Cherokee, BMW X6, Daihatsu's Terios LWB, which offers amazing space, and we go to Norway to meet the new Dodge Journey, destined for SA.
We meet the white Bushman, a barefoot tour leader, tell you what extra equipment you can add to your new 4x4 and find out by how much towing a trailer increases your vehicle's fuel consumption.
Lastly, an off-road expert introduces his emergency box, equipment that should not stay at home while you're off on safari.
